Cup and ring marks are ancient engravings in the limestone escarpments around Northumberland. They are particularly common in the Kyloe hills.

St Cuthbert’s cave. Appropriately on St Cuthbert’s way this cave is just to the north of Belford but seldom visited.

Chillingham cattle. Truly wild cattle and believed to be the descendants of the Auroch who roamed free thousand’s of years ago.

Chillingham castle. Famous for ghosts and it’s wild cattle. Just a couple of miles from Chatton and right in the heart of the kyloe hills.

Ros Castle, not so much a castle more a tremedous look out point which must have been the site of an old fort.

The “castle” is just above Bewick Old Church and the grounds at Chillingham.

Bewick old church, set beneath an escarpment and close to the ancient cup and ring sites this is a quiet and wonderful location.

A little way to the west of Belford, these crags are well known to climbers and offer fantastic views.
